My Favorite Place

Nestled within the George Washington National Forest, Elizabeth Furnace is a hidden gem that has stolen the hearts of many, including mine. As a photographer, I've been fortunate to explore some truly enchanting locations, but there's something about Elizabeth Furnace that draws me in.

For family photos it offers a variety of settings, one of which is the picturesque wooden bridge that crosses passage creek, creating a scene straight out of a fairy tale. Its weathered planks and rustic charm provide perfect leading lines and interesting photographs. Passage creek offers it's own beautiful setting with endless options for family photos, maternity, engagement, and the list goes on.

Then we have the original Elizabeth Furnace cabin, its history etched in every weathered beam and creaky floorboard. This rustic structure is a testament to the past, evoking a sense of nostalgia that's impossible to resist. The cabin stands as a living artifact, a subject that lends itself beautifully to both close-up details and wide-angle shots. There are so many great ways to use this cabin in family photos.

Exploring Elizabeth Furnace with my camera in hand has been a journey of discovery and rediscovery. Every visit reveals new angles, new perspectives, and new facets of this beautiful setting.  Whether it's the changing seasons, the play of light, or the subtle transformation of nature, there's always something fresh to capture.

In a world where we're constantly on the move, places like Elizabeth Furnace serve as a reminder how regenerating it can be when we slow down and immerse ourselves in nature's beauty. It's a place where the old and the new harmonize, where time seems to stand still, and where every photograph tells a story.
